VTC fleets in Zamora: the high-speed station, the Benavente junction, Sanabria and Barajas, how jobs are shared among the cars and how the fleet gets paid

Zamora is both a thoroughfare and deep countryside: the Madrid–Galicia high-speed line stops in the capital and near Puebla de Sanabria, the A-6, the A-52 and the A-66 meet at Benavente, and the rest is a large, ageing province whose villages go to the capital for the hospital, the station and errands. For a partner fleet that means cars in the capital, one in Benavente if the junction supports it and, in summer, attention to Sanabria; with no airport of its own, flights leave from Barajas or Valladolid. Each job enters the portal with its amount, is assigned to a car and the customer pays by card: the money reaches the fleet's Stripe Connect account with the published commission already separated. Benavente to Zamora station is 68 km; Zamora to Barajas, 270 km.

Where should the cars be in a thoroughfare province like Zamora?

In the capital and in Benavente. Zamora holds the high-speed station, with trains east to Chamartín and west to Ourense, Santiago and A Coruña, the Virgen de la Concha hospital, the reference for almost the whole province, the public offices and an old town of narrow streets beside the cathedral; from there come the transfers to Barajas via Toro, Tordesillas and the A-6, the connections with the first and last trains from Toro, Morales del Vino and the villages, and the hospital jobs with a wait from Sayago, Aliste and Tierra de Campos. Benavente is another matter: the junction of the A-6, the A-52 and the A-66, with logistics parks and heavy through traffic between Madrid, Galicia and Asturias, which leaves pickups of travellers who break their journey there and have no way to continue.

The figures are the engine's and the ones the customer sees: Zamora to Barajas, 270 km and about 191 min, from 328,05 €; Benavente to Zamora station, 68 km from 94,29 €; Puebla de Sanabria to Zamora station, 111 km; Bermillo de Sayago to the Virgen de la Concha hospital, 41 km. Sanabria has its own station on the line to Galicia and, in July and August, the lake fills car parks and accommodation; the rest of the year it is a long way from everything. The portal shows what arrives from each area and the fleet decides where each car is parked.

How does a job enter the fleet's portal, and how is it assigned?

At a price already fixed with the customer, who books on the website, by phone or from a company's or a hotel's account. The job appears in the fleet's portal with origin, destination, time and amount; the fleet accepts it or lets it pass before committing and, on accepting it, assigns it to one of its drivers and one of its vehicles, registered in the app with their documents and expiry dates. The driver carries it in the app, with navigation, status updates and the trip sheet generated before setting off, and sees only their own jobs; the fleet sees in the portal everything in progress and what still has no car. In a province of distances, notice is what allows a car to be positioned the night before in Benavente or Puebla de Sanabria.

The rules are those of the whole network. The fixed price is what is charged, with no on-board surcharges and no Easter surcharge; the time is the one booked, with the published courtesy wait; and no fleet car waits at the taxi rank of Zamora station or solicits at the Benavente service areas, because the service is always pre-booked and the pickup carries the customer's name and their train. Accepting a job and handing it back at the last minute strands someone who has already paid and costs priority. The fleet neither works exclusively nor is obliged to accept everything: it is only asked not to accept a job if that vehicle is already committed at that time. Station connections carry the train number and the app follows delays.

How does the fleet get paid, and what is the fortnightly statement for?

The Zamora fleet is paid into its own Stripe Connect account, not the platform's: the customer pays by card when booking, the amount lands with the booking commission already separated in the same payment and moves to the bank on the payout schedule the fleet sets in Stripe, without the money ever sitting in someone else's account waiting for a transfer. Every fortnight the previous one is closed and the statement arrives, with the job-by-job detail, and the commission invoice, numbered, with its base and its VAT, issued automatically: the accountant receives documents, not screenshots. The commission is published on the fleets page; it is lower if the fleet adopts the house fare and the published rate if it declares its own within a band. There is no joining fee, monthly charge or minimum.

Bidding for uncovered jobs is optional and is switched on in the portal. The fleet leaves a pricing rule for its drivers, with base, target and floor per concept, standing or by days and hours, within the published limits and with the recommended figure alongside, and fine-tunes it per driver if needed; while its drivers are online in the app, the customer sees them as one more option at that fixed price, only for pickups in the coming hours, and the fleet is paid the awarded amount with the usual commission. It serves, for instance, for a car already in Benavente when someone is stuck there with a broken-down car; nobody lowers their price at the moment of booking and the customer never sees an open amount. Ratings reach the portal in full and a pattern is discussed before assignment is touched.

What legal framework applies, and what about jobs to Madrid and Galicia?

The fleet's VTC authorisations are registered in Castilla y León, which since Royal Decree-Law 13/2018 holds the competence over services within its territory, and the rules require most of them to start or end in the region. In Zamora that covers almost everything a fleet does: the transfer to Barajas or Chamartín leaves from the province, the trip from Benavente to Vigo along the A-52 or from Zamora to Santiago likewise, and the return with a customer coming back from Galicia or Madrid ends in it. What does not fit is assigning cars to jobs with both origin and destination outside the region. Every job carries its trip sheet and its filing with the Ministry's register, generated before departure with the assigned vehicle and driver, in case an officer asks for it on the A-6.

Zamora's calendar governs the spread. At Easter, declared of international tourist interest, the processions close the old town day and night, accommodation sells out and many visitors sleep elsewhere and travel in and out each day, with the pickup point on a street outside the route; in late June San Pedro fills the capital with concerts and the garlic fair, and the night-time returns to nearby villages are the most sought after; in July and August Lake Sanabria receives tourists from all over Spain, who arrive by train at Sanabria station and need a connection to their accommodation; and at the start and end of the holidays the A-6 and the A-52 carry heavy traffic between Madrid and Galicia through Benavente. Puebla de Sanabria to the lake is 16 km.

What does the fleet software do, and how do you apply to join?

The fleet-management software runs the whole business, with or without the platform: expiry dates for roadworthiness tests, insurance, authorisation and drivers' licences, expenses with their VAT, maintenance, kilometres, claims, income from every platform the fleet works with and the split with each driver according to their agreement. It warns before anything expires and produces the month's result per car, which in Zamora is the figure that says whether the Benavente car pays off, the one that goes up to Sanabria in summer or the one that covers Sayago and Aliste towards the hospital with an empty return. It is included for partner fleets; a fleet that does not work with the platform can subscribe by the month, and anyone who prefers to keep their own customers and prices has the platform as a tool, for a fee per licence per month, which is not yet on sale.

The application is sent from the fleets page with the company name, tax number, number of authorisations and areas, the capital, Benavente, Toro, Sanabria or the whole province. Then come the paperwork and the agreement with the split and the scope, authorisations, vehicle records, passenger-cover insurance and tax standing certificate; the Stripe Connect onboarding from the fleet's record, which decides when it can start collecting; and the registration of drivers and vehicles in the app, each with their own credentials. The first jobs are usually airport and station runs, the most predictable ones, and the scope widens with punctuality and ratings. There is no lock-in and no non-compete clause, and the statements and invoices remain downloadable in the portal if the fleet leaves.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth having a car in Benavente as well as in the capital?

It depends on what arrives from the junction, which the portal shows, and on the result per car and month from the fleet software. Benavente works towards Zamora station, towards Barajas along the A-6, 282 km, and towards Valladolid and León.

Is the fleet paid into its own account or the platform's?

Its own, through Stripe Connect: the amount lands with the published commission separated in the same payment and moves to the bank on the schedule the fleet sets. The fortnightly statement and its commission invoice are the paperwork and the reconciliation.

Can a fleet car take a customer from Benavente to Vigo or Santiago?

Yes: the job leaves from Castilla y León and fits the rules. Benavente to Vigo is 334 km, and Zamora to Santiago has its own route page. The price is the one fixed at booking and the empty return is the fleet's call when accepting.

Can a car wait at the Zamora station rank for the trains from Madrid?

No. The pickup is always a customer with a booking and their train on the job, and the app follows the train so the driver arrives on time with the customer's name; waiting at the taxi rank or soliciting on the platform is prohibited for a VTC.

Do you have to bid or work exclusively?

No to both. Bidding is an option switched on in the portal with a pricing rule within the published limits, and the fleet carries on with its own customers and other platforms; it is only asked not to accept a job with the car already committed.

How we write, where the figures come from and how we correct an error: editorial policy.

The published commission, courtesy waiting time, settlement days and cancellation policy are the panel settings when the fleets page is opened. Kilometre, minute and price figures come from the route engine; none of this promises a volume of jobs.
