Which way it goes

Zamora is a large province with a scattered population and many small villages far from the capital. The most requested internal trips are from the outlying areas into Zamora — hospital, station, errands — and from Sanabria, Aliste or Sayago that means a long time on minor roads where buses run only a few times a day.

Between villages in Zamora distances are long and buses are infrequent, often weekdays only. A trip that is direct by car may require going through the capital or Benavente by public transport.

On arrival: Tierra de Campos zamorana

Villalpando, in the north-east, is the main town of the Zamora part of Tierra de Campos, a cereal-growing plain of small, widely spaced villages. Public transport is scarce and almost every trip to Zamora, Benavente or Valladolid is made by car.

Tip: To visit Zamora at Easter, give your exact accommodation: processions close the old town and pickup may have to be on another street.
